OK guys. I'm serious here so listen to me. If you have a PC, go ahead to steam and download Doki Doki Literature Club. This stupid ass seemingly visual novel game just played me. Totally fucking played me. I fell for it hook line and sinker. The game is free, so you really don't have an excuse if you have the means the download it do it. It is completely worth it I assure you. I had it spoiled for me, so I'm not gonna take the plunge. Did sound interesting though. Holyfuckholyfuck play this gaaaaaaame!

So, I just finished Doki Doki Literature Club. I started playing it meaning to give it 30 minutes and it's been three hours. Here's my review: Doki Doki Literature Club is a triumph of GAME DESIGN. Not really game play, not story (although this is masterful) but DESIGN. You must play to completion to understand. And you SHOULD. I don't care what you know about it (although the less the better) I don't care if you think this isn't the kind of game you'd enjoy: Play. This. Game. It's free and it only takes like 3 and a half hours of your life.
Mind you those three hours may be transformative.
The closest game to what this is would have to be MOTHERFUCKING PORTAL. Yep. Portal. One review I agree with is that it is like Dark Souls only more dark. In all this is an irreplaceable experience as nothing in the gaming world is truly like this game.
Portal
Seriously
Play this game.

Pps.
There are.... parallels... for us, as a community, in Doki Doki Literature Club. Play it.

Wolfenstein and Mario Odyssey release tomorrow. Looking forward to both (though Wolfenstein more), but I'm currently gazing at my horrific backlog and feeling pretty bad about it. There're at least twenty games I either haven't finished or haven't even started.

I don't buy any "new" games until they drop below $25, which doesn't seem to be slowing my backlog problem. I just don't ever have time to play.

I'm too impatient to wait for sales Besides, if I can finish a game in under ten days I can return it to the store and get my money back. Or at least that's the theory. There are times I buy a game and then freaking weeks go by before I get to it (I still haven't started Watch Dogs 2).
But RPGs are my curse - I love em, but I almost never finish any of them. Fallout 4, Dragon Age Inquisition, Witcher 3, and even Persona 5 are sitting in my shame pile.

Looking at all these new games that came out in September/October or will be out by the end of the year that I want: Knack 2, Destiny 2, Call of Duty: WWII, The Evil Within 2, Wolfenstein II, Life is Strange: Before the Storm, Assassin's Creed: Origins, LEGO Marvel Superheroes II, Star Wars Battlefront 2, The Inpatient... probably a few I'm missing. (Wow there are a lot of 2 games this year ) Not to mention the games that came out earlier in the year that I want but haven't picked up yet and the first half release schedule for 2018. I feel beat down by my hobby.

As I mentioned a week or so ago I started playing Prey (although I haven't managed to play much beyond the first few hours - thanks life for getting in the way ). I found pretty quickly that one thing gets both annoying yet fun and addictive. Collecting random crap and trash to put in the recycler. I find that I'm prowling around an area picking up junk just to double back to this machine to make a bunch of cubes of component parts so I can make a box of bullets or something else. What is our weird fascination with collecting crap in games to use to make other crap? It happened to me in Fallout 4 too.
