What's your game of the year so far? Mine is Persona 5. But Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a game that will challenge it. Um, For Honor? I mean I really haven't played anything else

Not to sound like I'm grovelling, but I'm happy to see Nintendo's revival this year.I can't remember the last time a console had so many good games get released for it during it's first year. So far,the Switch has Breath of the Wild,Splatoon 2,Mario x Rabbids, and still has Mario Odyssey and Xenoblade 2 to come. I hope Nintendo keeps us the good work for years to come. Competition is only good for the gaming industry(despite a certain person trying to convince us otherwise with his silly ''all developers should develop for Sony idea''),simply because he can't afford new consoles.

OK guys. I'm serious here so listen to me. If you have a PC, go ahead to steam and download Doki Doki Literature Club. This stupid ass seemingly visual novel game just played me. Totally fucking played me. I fell for it hook line and sinker. The game is free, so you really don't have an excuse if you have the means the download it do it. It is completely worth it I assure you. I had it spoiled for me, so I'm not gonna take the plunge. Did sound interesting though.

I played a hell of a lot of stuff this year, and still have a bunch of stuff to either finish off or get to (super pumped for Wolfenstein later this week) but it's probably going to be Breath of the Wild for me. Took me a long while to appreciate it, but it's fantastic.

Had a random thought: Whatever happened to Steam Machines? For years it seemed the gaming interwebz were all about them, the fancy little boxes that would run Valve's Steam OS through your TV like a console. All these different companies were developing their own, with ridiculous price points and differing specifications and whatever, and according to the PC Elite it would harken the end of console gaming. And then, nothing. Nobody mentions or seemingly remembers them at all. I can't even tell if any were actually made or not.

It is completely worth it I assure you. I had it spoiled for me, so I'm not gonna take the plunge. Did sound interesting though. How spoiled? Because I know the bait and switch; it hasn't really happened yet. At the point I'm at you get little hints but nothing seems out of the ordinary yet. Thus far the game is actually being an excellent Moe/Dating Sim Visual novel. All you do, sadly, is hit a button to see the next line of text and then, once a day, you pick seemingly random words to form a poem (that is never actually read) and the words you pick will make certain girls happy and your relationship with them will grow. It snared me last night, Mr. Cynical, with a very... let's say tense part. Reeled me in without me even realizing I was reeled in until something happened that ripped me out of a very intense moment. I was surprised... because I'm really just trying to get to the twist. I was initially only half paying attention... but it got me. The game got me and pulled me in and I didn't even know it until it was made obvious. So my point is this is very well crafted and written. For the entry price of 'Free' I don't think you'd be disappointed to have this experience.

I wouldn't say that about VR and not just because I own a VR headset. If it keeps up the momentum this time VR actually has a shot as a good additive peripheral. So long as the industry keeps supporting it and people get on board with buying and playing it. The steam machines on the other hand never really had a shot. The marketing push on them was far too soft and they were basically just mid to high range fixed architecture PCs. Anyone who is serious into the PC world is likely to build their own rig anyway rather than pay for an overpriced steam machine and the people who honestly don't care about PC either buy a console or play all their games on smartphone or tablet.

Hidden Agenda
This one has me interested. It's the latest from Supermassive, the guys behind Until Dawn. But... and its a big BUT... this time its a fully social experience meant to be played with friends... using your smartphones rather than a controller. Which is kind of a big turn off. I would totally play this as a social thing with my wife and kids like I do with TellTale games but why no Dualshock support? It's basically a two hour interactive movie which is cool for a playthru with a group but doesn't offer much in the way of replay value. So yeah... might be good for a buy on the cheap or something that is eventually free from PS Plus.
