Orange blade, y'all. That was the preorder. Along with that sweet, sweet Mygeeto hilt. I've been using this on my deep dive, primarily because it is a unique bonus, but also I figured it kind of matches the character.
Let's talk about the fact that the opening 20 minutes are some of the best Star Wars out there. Let's discuss that those 20 minutes caused me, ME, to change my opinion and then urge a buddy to buy THIS over RDR2.
Let me tell you how CRUCIAL it is to have watched Rebels and read the comic Darth Vader in order to get the biggest impact from the Second Sister.
I had a legitimate HOLY **** moment.
This game is great. Since his saber is orange, he's inbetween the Light and Dark Sides. My theory is that he is morally ambiguous. Not a Jedi nor a Sith.

Google Stadia reviewed.Citing complaints about lack of features, sparse launch library, the controller and, of course, you need a stable, albeit reliable internet connection. You can probably get good mileage at home with decent enough wi-fi, but if you want to play games at a Starbucks, internet speeds vary considerably. Any hint of slowdown will instantly ruin your experience with lag. It should also be noted that you still have to buy the games. I came into this thinking that the games would be free and all you needed was a Stadia Pro subscription. Were that the case, I would have been more favorable of the Stadia from the get-go. But, no, you still need to purchase the games, and pricing models haven't been announced as of yet. That, and you can't even play the games you purchased offline. Another strike against it. Because, if THAT also were the case, the Stadia would have allowed for anyone to play a perfectly portable Assassin's Creed Odyssey in its purest form with no compromises when internet isn't an option. It might have been a serious competitor for the Nintendo Switch in terms of portability. Those two things alone are a significant step backwards for something that's trying to argue a solid case for game streaming. Unless Google is willing to work out the kinks before this thing is available to the public, I just don't see this making as much of an impact as VR.

I smell failure.

Haven't had much time lately, but Disney + has done one thing; it's given me more time to play BattleTech on the PC. (Cause my girls hog my TV)
I'm at this odd point where I can make an OBSCENE amount of money taking 3 star jobs. The problem? I am under very little threat on these jobs as I can field near-400 tons of Death Metal in a 5 star format.
So why not proceed with the main story? Mainly because of a mistake I made when I started the game. I selected 5 parts to make a Mech rather than the standard 3. I almost said the max of 6. While this commitment to realism might have behooved me in the endless Career mode, hunting for specific Mechs in the Campaign is just a pain because of it. Specifically, I really liked the Jagermech I had before the big crash and I can't seem to get it back.
I'm also hindered by my own storytelling. Apex, who I've made out to be a villain (based on my throwaway use of the name 'Apex' in one installment only to actually recruit someone named Apex later) is easily my most valued crew member next to Vamp now. Ironically, both are just standard-ass mechwarriors, not Kickstarter backers like Sly and Kru and not Ronin, the unique units, like Glitch. Both are maxed out and are crazy useful, but Apex goes with me on just about every mission, but due to my overwhelming strength, Riana has not been even NEAR danger in a long time in order for me to exploit Apex's desire for revenge.
So that's stalled my writing too.
But, on the bright side, I am still LOVING playing it. Man, I wish it was on PS4 so I could play it on the TV.
I got an achievement for a story-based milestone that labeled me in the top 16th percentile of players. 16%?? On what appears to be a little over halfway into the story? WTF, guys, this game is awesome! Why are so few people making it through the story? Are they all like me and have MASSIVE backlogs and a general preference for consoles?
Oh, and Jedi is still fucking awesome too, when I can get the kids off my TV.

I would argue this is dead on arrival and they don’t even know it yet. I don’t think they’ll take the proper lessons away from its failure when it does either.

Your second trip to Kashyyk is... mournful, but hauntingly beautiful. The score here really takes off. My arrival at the top of the Origin Tree was spiritual, in a way. What a powerful game, to evoke these feelings. Oh, and I'm getting better (finally) at combat. Starting to feel like a Jedi there too. Fallen Order is a strong enough game that once I sit down with it, I am unlikely to switch games or go to bed on time. That's a pretty strong endorsement.

I've still got a ton of schoolwork, but I need to start thinking of what I've played this year. I'm not gonna lie; the race is between Kingdom Come and Jedi at this point. One is seductively deep and immersive and the other is a shot of nerd-heroin straight into my geek-dick. Who will win?

I spent a lot of time going back to older games and trophy chasing this year so it's hard for me to think about my personal GOTY. As far as newer games go, I enjoyed the Hell out of Resident Evil 2 Remake and God of War this year. I think I may just have to give the spot to the PSVR game Astro Bot though. I know a VR gme...WUT?!?! I would go so far as to say Astro Bot is a must own for PSVR users. It's a really fun action platformer that just has lots of charm and really showcases how VR can be used for things other than horror and FPS games. I really enjoyed Life is Strange: Before the Storm as well. That one definitely deserves an honorable mention for the storytelling.
