I’m not exactly a big CoD fan. Im usually more of a Battlefield player. But after the last three or four CoDs it’s actually kind of nice to see them ditch all the gimmicky nonsense and get back to what made CoD popular to begin with.

Modern Warfare Dev Downplays White Phosphorus Controversy, Says Multiplayer Is About The FunCan't understand why people are upset about this when nuclear weapons, which are far more devastating and catastrophic, have been used in countless other games in the past, even those that aren't Call of Duty. Hell, Fallout 76 lets gamers deploy a Nuclear Bomb! The developers of CoD were obviously going for realism when it boils down to the single-player narrative, and that's important in the context of character development, but all of that is thrown out the window in an online multiplayer match with 100 or so people, where weapons like White Phosphorus or Mustard Gas are used for fun. No one gets hurt there except a few egos. Military shooters were never intended to be politically correct, but it seems some of them are pressured by the media to be. I mean, look at Fortnite----the game is all about killing people with guns, and it is being marketed towards kids as young as 10. If people have a problem with the use of White Phosphorus or any type of chemical weapon that players can use in CoD, divert the discussion towards Fortnite toys and Overwatch Legos. Here's what a producer of CoD Modern Warfare says about the matter: "In the narrative experience, you're using this landscape and this universe to make people care about these characters. And then when you're in the multiplayer space, you're trying to get them, using the same things in the same universe, to care more about the fun that they're having. It's almost like a mental chess game, where you're solving puzzles with mechanics and doing these things. And the characters that are in there, it's more about representing you in this play-space. It's almost like having two different actors in the same film. You might have a really dramatic, deep, disturbed character with a horrible past and all this trauma. And then over here, you've got another character that's devil may care, whatever. But I look at it that way. I almost look at the game as, it's three very different characters and actors in the same film, in the same play.

Guy doing the interview needs his teeth kicked in for asking the question: "What if Price was a woman this time?"

Modern Warfare Demands Your Attention, But It Might Not Deserve It Garbage clickbait articles like this are just one of the many reasons I quit trafficking Kotaku. This guy clearly came up with a premise and then tried to write backward into it rather than playing the game and letting the gameplay speak for itself. Here is his premise: “I’m not saying that such events should not be depicted in a game, but that 10 years after Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2’s “No Russian” level, there is little to commend for merely “going there.” We’ve been there. The challenge is providing a compelling reason for doing it. I’m not confident that one will arise, because more than anything, Modern Warfare endeavors to be a Call of Duty game.“ All of his premise made moot by this statement: “I’m only a few hours into Modern Warfare’s campaign.” So he’s played through the first couple of missions and decided that the story beats presented won’t pan out into any point beyond spectacle. Fuck off. Finish the damn game and then write your article. Keep your “journalism” to yourself if you can’t be bothered to even backup the point you’re trying to make with facts.

I mean, it wouldn't have "CALL OF DUTY" on the box if it weren't trying to be a "CALL OF DUTY" game. I want some of that marijuana he's smoking. I need a break from simple human reasoning......
