I'm very intrigued. Reviews have been pretty positive, but a common complaint is by-the-numbers stealth and a lack of difficulty. But it looks good, and i'm intrigued by the story.

I think story is really the point of this one over the gameplay. Honestly I don't have a problem with that. It's good to have some games like that once in a while.

I never thought I'd be interested in this game, but my curiosity piqued after happening upon a couple of gameplay vids. So, I decided to give it a shot and pick it up myself today.
And, it's really good at what it does best---prioritizing a good story. It's like the Last of Us with rats and Inquisitors. An hour in, all I did was stealth around a bunch of really bad Knights who came to the village and pretty much slaughtered everybody right before my eyes---in real time, right while I was sneaking around with Hugo trying to find a way out. Even the death of the dog in the very beginning was brutally sad.
The anchor of the game is not so much the rats and the plague, or even the world itself, but rather the relationship between Amicia and Hugo. The goal here is to protect both of them. There is NO combat to speak of. You're solving environmental puzzles and figuring out ways to sneak around enemies without being spotted. And the hordes of rats are both your obstacle and your friend. I hear you can use the rats to kill people in gruesome ways, but I'm still early on in Chapter 2 and I haven't seen a single rat. Yet.
Overall, I like this game more than I wanted to. Apart from some issues, it's definitely something I'll invest in, and thankfully this was the only good May release worth getting.

A Plague Tale: Innocence is getting very positive reviews. It's subject matter is definitely interesting, and it's heavier gameplay mechanics and dealing with darker issues reminds me of Hellblade.
