Random thoughts 11/08/2017: here we go...
- So I got a raise. Yay? I am actually interviewing for ANOTHER position TODAY. If I get offered this new job it has benefits; namely all weekends and holidays off and I get treated like people instead of as a resource. The downside? Well NOW I'll take a pretty substantial paycut. (They just bumped me up a buck fiddy) My present job has been slowly killing me for 10 years. I am also almost constantly at risk of being fired due to politics and the machinations of people who covet my days off. But I also get assloads of OT, which the new job will have none of. So basically I need to choose between getting to act like a normal person and taking a massive paycut or growing fatter and unhealthier while constantly under the stress of being fired.
- I want that 5000 Steel from For Honor's Free Weekend. Who's my huckleberry?
- I've been dividing my other time between Blood & Wine and AssOrigins whilst trying to simultaneously not forget how to play either.
- Freedle asked me what the hell happened. In typing out the history between us and Douchenozzle I realize now just how outlandishly fucktarded that whole situation was. Why the hell did we stick with him for so long?
- As a busy father with tons of OT I appear to underestimate just how busy I am... when I compare note with people who have far less to do. One day, maybe after I retire, I wanna reconnect with real, healthy, human sleep. You know, like 8 hours a night. That seems so far away to me and such an alien concept.
- Fuck Taco Johns. That shit is expensive and bad.

Dude you've been looking to get away from that Hell hole for a long time. Change jobs even if it means less money. Your time is valuable too, as is your sanity. Time with your wife and kids would be worth it alone. And Taco Johns... pft. I wouldn't even consider that slop but then I have virtually infinite access to actual Tex-Mex options in Texas.

Well, it also complicates my wife's schedule and could meddle with her classes and teaching. My new job would be 4 10 hour days with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off. Bliss for me, but I feel like I'm letting my family down.

I get working somewhere you absolutely hate that sucks your soul and leaves you drained. You and your wife can probably figure out a new schedule. I'm sure she would appreciate you being around more.

If the new job offer will make you happier, and you're not losing a significant amount of money,I would go for the new job.More holidays, more time with your family(there are some things money can't buy). And if you're less stressed and happier, you'll be healthier.

Considering how smothering and soul-sapping your job is, a change is probably needed. It's a big, huge decision (and you really need to be talking with your family about it) but if you're miserable where you are there's no point continuing.
And I can't help you with For Honor - considering our positions on opposite ends of the earth, the connection probably wouldn't handle it.

I didn't get the job. It came down to me and one other person and they picked the other person. Also I just got 6 writeups and 3 days suspension in their campaign to build a case for my firing. How many of those had I gotten in the last 10 years? 0. This is a Game of Thrones, people, and the Eye of Sauron is FIXED on me.
Missing that job is probably the start of a lot of trouble for me.

Sorry to hear that man. Sounds like you need that resume warm and circulating. I've been there. I worked for a company right out of college years ago that was just looking for a reason to get rid of me after the first year because the company switched hands and they wanted to cut personnel costs. They canned me on my one year anniversary at my review and replaced me with a woman that they had hired a few months earlier, who I trained as my "backup" and who made $3 an hour less than me because she didn't have the degree. The reason they say they let me go? They were concerned about my loyalty to the company. LOL. Well no shit. I had been looking for another job for six months.

I hope your job will be ok. I thought you seemed a bit stressed today. I know what it's like when many bad things happen quickly after the other, but hopefully your job will be ok
