I have to say they should have lead with this. The first trailer for this didn't exactly wow me but this looks more interesting at least. Seems like they are leaning hard on copying what other games have done already though. This looks like a mesh of DOOM, Borderlands, Mad Max, and Far Cry with a dash of Saints Row thrown in for good measure.

Still reserving judgment on this. Rage was utterly forgettable and I’m not so sure they’re not just riding on the coattails of games like Borderlands and Saints Row and a couple of other franchises that went from serious to goofy with their sequels.

Looks like Sebastian Shaw's Vader.

Rage failed with me on the beautiful, static sky. It looked glorious... and it never moved. Like a painting. Broke all immersion.

I'm one of the weirdos that liked the first Rage. Not for the story, which was shit, or the world, which was oddly bland (Despite the shiny graphics) and full of non-characters. But the gameplay i enjoyed, since it was just a straightforward shooter. I liked having multiple bullet types per gun, and the side weapons (wingsticks were so satisfying to use). Granted, i haven't played it in years, but I played enough to get the platinum. It helped that when i first played it it was with a friend, and we immediately jumped into the co-op missions, which were a blast.
As for Rage 2, i'm fence-sitting. Looks a bit messy/janky from what I've seen.

Not in gameplay obviously or even aesthetic but in how this game looks like its trying way too hard to be a different game than what came before it. It looks too much like a grab bag of copy paste ideas from other games.

It's been pretty try-hard imo (it doesn't help that Borderlands 3 dropped their trailer the other week, since it's take a lot of the gaming community's attention to the point that think most people don't even know or care that Rage 2 is dropping so soon).
