Detroit become human is an interesting video game that has stirred up alot of debate regarding its gameplay. This isn't the first time that Quantic Dream has divides the gaming community with its gameplay. Many reviews are stating the gameplay is boring, bland, and even arguing there is none. I think it is a game you have to look at in a very specific way.
Detroit Become Human steals many of its gameplay mechanics from visual novel style games while it may not have the action and control over characters that many action games or rpg games have. It focuses more on narratives and how players will react to different situations. The gameplay is the choices and interaction.
The biggest problem with these types of games is how reviews are conducted. Many state the lack of more focused gameplay a flaw, that could not be more inaccurate. Simply not liking a specific gameplay style doesn't make it a flaw. That would really be like me arguing that a fighting game had dull, boring gameplay because it was a fighting game i can't accurately review a game that i hate the gameplay too because its not my type of game its just unfair. When it comes down to it I think reviews need to come right out and say it. This gameplay is not for me while i had fun with its story and characters its interactive gameplay just isn't for me.
Thoughts?

Thoughts? Agreed. People should rate a game according to how well it represents that genre. I love Heavy Rain, it's one of my favorite games from the 7th gen. People said it';s gameplay is boring, but I enjoyed how it's gameplay represented what the story is about, and it's not just another beat em up or shooter game. Same with visual novels, I often give visual novels high scores if the the story is good, and if the story choices are intricate. I don't expect it to be an action game.

Murdered Soul Suspect was one game that was overloojed because of people expecting another action game. I look at it now with an indredible story it got sadly overlooked.

I like how it lets your hear what people are thinking, because every NPC has their own sidestory/personality, and you discover how some of them have committed murders or done other things, and the reason for why they did those things. These sidestories are like puzzles for a bigger story. Kinda reminds me of the Phantasy Star games, which people say don't have a great main plot, but if you listen to what the NPC talk about, you will learn how many intricate things happen in the world, which are caused by the main plot.
