It's been a rough couple of years for great performers. Pretty soon singers will start to die and I'll be like: Who?

It's my feeling that music pretty well peaked in the '80s and definitely took a downturn in the 2000s and I think we can definitely say odds are no one is going to remember or care when the eventual obits start hitting for the Justin Beiber generation.

Don't worry guys there are still some great singers left of both old school and new.
Russell Morris is a bit of old and new. Made a couple of hits in the 70's and disappeared till a few years ago. Came back with a new style and a more gravely voice that was suited to his new genre Australian Blues. Be warned that you really should know a little bit of Australian history to fully appreciate his work. Van Diemen's Land today is known as Tasmania back when it was a brutal penal colony for some of the worst that England had to offer. The video might is actually about one of the men who tried to escape. Everytime he tried to get away he'd take someone with him but only he was ever found. Turns out the man was a cannabal and his partners in crime were snacks. Very dark song but he has a few lighter works I can post if your interested.
Bob Dylan is still around
If you like opera Andrea Bocelli is superb
Jimmy Barnes still does old school rock
Jimmy's son David Campbell (mothers last name so he's be seen as different from his famous Dad) likes to bring back classics from every era from 1920s to the 1980s
I was devastated when Johnny Cash died but the rest of the Highwaymen are still singing
I'll post more if you want me too!

I've been getting a lot of mileage out of this one. Anyone who has seen season 7 of The Walking Dead will get how it was used during the season. And its just pretty catchy on its own. I think I need this as a ring tone. XD

Still in pain (most of my arm hurt atm), but I had to share this song. I'm a huge fan of Simon and Garfunkel and I've heard this song many times, but this version is done by a metal band called Disturbed, and while I don't normally listen to metal this is brilliantly powerful:
