There's some Chinese NES knock offs that look just like the real NES classic, not just the console labelling but also the box art. This version of a NES knock off is the most convincing yet, since it has the correct labels on the console and nearly all the minor box details, including adding certain things you'd expect to find with the real NES classic. The only way you can know for sure this NES knock off isn't real(without actually playing it) is it's box is bigger than the genuine NES,and the games displayed on the back of the box are different.
Here is another version of a NES knock off that looks very convincing
Sure, there's other NES clones that are easy to spot such as this one
I want to buy a NES classic, but I don't know if I will ever feel comfortable enough to do so with their ridiculous resale prices and maybe the Chinese will copy the box arts and box size exactly in the future.
Some people have spoken about how they were lucky and found NES classic for cheap in some store, but these people need to check they have a real one and not a knock off.
Since I've already purchased a SNES classic, I did research about SNES classic knock offs, thankfully the SNES knock offs are easy to spot out because they are called the Super Mini SFC, but in the future, there may be more convincing SNES knock offs. I didn't pay much for my SNES classic, and SNES classics aren't that expensive and are still easy enough to find in retail stores,so Chinese people probably don't have as much incentive to make convincing SNEs clones. But they could fetch big money for convincing NES clones.
Nintendo making such a limited supply of the NES classic creates all sorts of problems, because people price gouge when they resell, and Chinese make nearly identical copies of the NES classic to rip people off big quantities of money.
