A place where we can talk about NFL,Rugby, motorsport etc.
The NFL playoff teams have qualified, since the Dolphins aren't in the playoffs,I would like to see the Chiefs win. This is because I want to see Alex Smith and Andy Reid win a superbowl. Both of them have been through a lot,and despite having success with other teams as well as with the Chiefs, they have a lot of critics saying neither of them will ever win a superbowl.
It's been an interesting NFL season, with the Eagles looking like the super bowl favorites until Carson Wentz went down injured. The Steelers are known for their dangerous offence, but their star WR Antonio Brown will be playing with an injury in the playoffs. The Vikings defense is good at suffocating opposition offenses, and they finished with the tied best record, despite playing with a backup quarterback and reserve RB. The Packers were without Rodgers for most of the season. The Rams did well this season, because their young QB and RB have done well. The Patriots will be hard to beat, because they have so much structure and are so clinical with Brady and their coach Belichick.
The Australian Open Tennis is coming soon. Roger Federer won 2 grand slams last year at 35 years of age. Him and Nadal have both won more grand slams than any other male player,so it will be worth watching them play.
The Rugby League world cup was held late last year, with Australia winning. The Rugby Union World Cup will be held in Japan in 2019.

Most people who play Rugby Union in Australia come from wealthy backgrounds, where most Rugby League players in Australia come from low/middle income families. That's why Australia's Rugby Union team are known for lacking mongrel. I actually kinda like watching South Africa play Rugby Union, their style involves lots of fast ball movement.

Weird, because my affection for them is rooted in a PS3 game, but I love to root for the Scarlets.

Watched both playoffs games this morning. Alex Smith gets blamed everytime KC are lackluster on defense,or their coach Andy Reid reverts back to conservative play calling. I think if Smith went to a team like Denver, which already has a Super bowl calibur defense,it would be good for him.
Good to see Atlanta win,I feel sorry for them after last year's super bowl, especially since people blame Matt Ryan, when it wasn't his idea to call those silly plays late in last year's super bowl.
I know Ben watches tennis,so I'll say Andy Murray has pulled out of the Australian open and may need to retire due to a hip condition. Andy Murray is actually my favorite tennis player,so it's sad to hear.

My NFL divisional playoff opinions.
Vikings vs Saints
The Vikings have a suffocating defense, and their quarterback is having a good year, but he isn't a great quarterback. The Saints have one of the best quarterbacks of all time, as well as a great runningbacks. They are missing something like 6 starters on defense though. Great defense usually beats great offense,so history says the Vikings should win, although Brees has already won a superbowl ,so he knows what it takes to win playoff games.
Patriots vs Titans
Brady is perhaps the best quarterback of all time, and playing like it. He also throws to guys which are difficult to cover such as Gronkowski,as well as other great receivers. The Pats run the ball well. The Pats have a bend but not break defense. The Titans have been mediocre for much of the year, but their quarterback and other players found some confidence in the 2nd half of the game against the Chiefs.
Eagles vs Falcons
If Wentz was playing, the Eagles would be my pick for the superbowl. But since he isn't, I see this as a 50 50 game. The Falcons made it to the superbowl last year, and technically they're better on paper than last year's team, but their offense isn't playing with the same explosive firepower as last year, but their defense is good enough to help them win games, and if their offense can go back to playing like last year, they will be hard to beat, especially since their personnel on offense is pretty much the same as last year. The Eagles have a great run game, great receivers, great defense, but they have a backup quarterback.
Jaguars vs Pittsburgh
If Antonio Brown wasn't injured,I would pick the Steelers to win. The Steelers still have a dangerous offense, but the Jaguars have a great defense which conceded only 3 points in their last game, and they beat the Steelers earlier in the season, and intercepted Roethlisberger 5 times in the process. The Jaguars passing game isn't great, but they have a good running game.

Women's beach volleyball is awesome. I liked watching the Filipino women playing. Even though they're terrible at it,Filipinas have nice curves and tans.

NFL DIVISIONAL PLAYOFF OPINIONS
A crazy ending to the Vikings vs Saints game. On the final play of the game, with the Saints ahead by 1 point and the Vikings on their own 30 yard line,Keenum threw a pass which landed around the Saints 30 yard line, but the silly Saints defender tried to go for an interception and missed the ball, which allowed a Vikings receiver to run the other 30 yards and score. All the Saints defender needed to do is let the Vikings receiver catch the ball and tackle him.
The Vikings jumped out to a 17 point lead, but future hall of famer Brees rallied the Saints to take the lead late in the match. I'm not convinced the Vikings can win the superbowl, even with their great defense, their offense looks weak since they needed luck to beat a Saints team missing 6 starters on defense.
The Falcons vs Eagles game came down to the wire too. The Falcons had 4 downs from a 1st and goal situation to try to score a TD to take the lead in the final minute. But,the Falcons came up with some bonehead plays on offense, such as a shovel pass on the 2nd down when they were still 10 yards out and the game was on the line,as well as a bootleg where Ryan ran to where there as only 1 Falcons receiver and tried to pass the ball to him.
Even though the Falcons OC called some of these bad plays on offense,Falcons coach Dan Quinn allows it to happen, plus people remember Dan Quinn's poor play-calling and clock management when the Falcons were winning by 25 points in the 3rd quarter of the last super bowl. Quinn was a great defensive coordinator, but IMO he's not a good coach for pressure situations.
The Jaguars vs Steelers game was a high scoring affair, despite the Jaguars been known for their great defense but underpowered offense. The Jaguars jumped out to a 21 point lead in the first half on the back of a great running game, and their D coming up with an interception and making a key stop on a 4-1 situation. The Steelers came back to within a touchdown, but the Jaguars D scored another TD after forcing a fumble, and their passing game was good enough to set up good field position to run in another TD and to throw a TD. The Jaguars won 45-42.
The Pats vs Titans game was the result everyone expected. Although the the game was close in the first half, and the Titans got some unlucky penalties against them to half their drives. In the 2nd half, the wheels came off the Titans and the Pats ran away with it and won by 28 points.
NFL CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME OPINIONS
The Jaguars match up fairly well against the Pats, because they have a fast defense and can come up with all sorts of unique pass coverage,as well as very tight coverage,so if anyone can beat the Pats,it's the Jaguars. But Brady is the greatest of all time for a reason, and he is the most clutch quarterback to ever play, and the Patriots defense has been very good in the 2nd half of the season, and the Jaguars don't have much fire power with their passing game, although the Jaguars run the ball well. The Patriots should win,but I wouldn't be surprised if the Jaguars win because they have the type of defense that can stop Brady.
The Eagles vs Vikings is an interesting match up. Both teams have great defenses. Both teams have backup quarterbacks. The Eagles have a great running game, but the Vikings defense is a little bit better, and the Vikings are at home. I'm going to pick the Eagles to win, because the Vikings were lucky to win against an injury depleted Saints team, where as the Eagles outplayed a very determined Falcons team.

The two times former world champion of rally (1990 and 1992) Carlos Sainz at the age of 55 won the 2018 "Dakkar" rally, the world's toughest rally tournament. (In fact it's his second victory after 2010.) When I saw his picture in a sport site a while ago I thought it was some story from the past, but it's from today!!

I like how motorsport is unpredictable, and drivers in their 50's can win races,as well as mechanical reliability, fuel strategy and weather come into the equation. The race I remember the most is the Bathurst 1000 in 2014,where the youngest driver and oldest driver teamed up to win,and they weren't the fastest team, but they stayed in contention, and near the end of the race, other drivers ran out of fuel, crashed or got penalised, hence the Mostert/Morris team won.

Conference championship game results
Pats 24 Jaguars 20
The Jaguars lead 20-10 in the 4th quarter but lost. Hard to say what went wrong,Brady was clutch in the 4th quarter, and the Jaguars couldn't sustain drives to run down the clock or score more points. The Jaguars gave up a lot of yardage in penalties ,especially pass interference penalties which gave the Pats easy big gains. Maybe the Jags got stage fright since they have one of the best defenses in the NFL but in the 4th quarter condeeded 2 TDs.
Eagles 38 Vikings 7
I said the Vikings were lucky to win last week against a Saints team missing 6 starters on defense. Against the Vikings high powered offense, they were outmatched. Foles may be a backup quarterback, but a few years ago he had one of the best seasons a quarterback has ever had.and in this game he showed his potential, by being accurate when throwing long passes and having a quick release to get the ball to open receivers when they're in space. The Eagles running game is awesome, a great mixture of power from Blount and speed/agility with Ajayi. We all knew the Eagles have a great defense, and that was on display in this game.
Superbowl prediction
My head says Patriots, but heart says Eagles. Brady has already won 5 super bowls, the Pats have the best tactician coach ever. Both the Eagles and Pats have good all round teams, but the Pats having Brady gives them an advantage. The Eagles will need to find a way to pressure Brady constantly, and not drop off in intensity like the Jaguars did,and then it's possible the Eagles can outscore the Pats.
