Konami to release a PC Engine/Turbo Grafx mini. The console will come preloaded with an initial handful of retro-like games, including R-Type, New Adventure Island, Ninja Spirit, Ys Book I & II, Dungeon Explorer and Alien Crush.

I never could get into this one. I always preferred VII, VIII and X.

I never could get into this one. I always preferred VII, VIII and X. It doesn't have the spectacular beginning of VII,XIII and X, but the character chemistries start showing later on. Steiner, Beatrix and Elko end up adding lots of charm to the story, along with Zidane,Garnet and Vivi

On this day in 1991, in Japan, Super R-Type was released for the Super Famicom, followed by the North American port two months later on September 1st, right around the launch of the Super NES.

Got this today for my Analogue Mega NT (Genesis clone) -- quite possibly one of the hardest damn video games on the planet. They don't call it HARD CORPS for nothing. I love AND hate this game at the same time. It's the only game so far that forces me to use Game Genie codes to cheat.
