Here,I will talk about movies,TV and anime series that I watch. Finally got around to watching Blade Runner 2049,even though I'm a big fan of Blade Runner and own a few Blade Runner collectibles. Anyways,I thought it was entertaining, but I prefer the original Blade Runner 10 x more. It doesn't have the Noir feel the original BR has,and I didn't find the characters in BR2049 to be as likable as the characters in the original BR,and the city atmosphere didn't feel as alive as the original BR.

Soldier is a movie set in the same Universe as Blade Runner. It was released in 1998,and stars Kurt Russell. I won't say too much about it,but it's a good movie on it's own merits, and you can see how the genetically engineered soldiers in it are a direct link to Blade Runner, plus you see ruins of Spinner vehicles on the planet.

There's theories Blade Runner is set in the same universe as Alien and Predator, because there is coincidences between the Weyland Corporation and Tyrell Corporation.

I liked BR2049. It was definitely too long, and there was some superfluous stuff in there, but overall it's exactly the sort of sci-fi I like (and that we don't often see on that scale/budget). If anything, the parts I didn't particularly like were the callbacks/links to the original BR.
And I absolutely love Soldier, which was mostly overlooked at the time of its release. It's big, dumb sci-fi action fun. Kurt Russell only has a handful of lines, and manages to make do with intense stares.

I enjoyed Soldier. I like how Soldier tries to show the story from the perspective of an off-world soldier, and how brutal it is,and how they were used as slaves. It makes me think of what Roy said to Deckard ''Painful to live in fear isn't it?'', and ''Now you know what it's like to be a slave''.

True Story: When Soldier came out I was newly single and my mother worked at a movie theater. I was bummed and down and just staying at home drinking when my mother called and said "Why don't you come and see a movie? Soldier just came out." At first I resisted: "Soldier?" I said, "That movie looks like it sucks. And why would going to a movie ALONE make me feel better??" Well anyway I was out of alcohol so I decided to go; planning to just get a seat in the back and use the dark room to sleep. I ended up on the edge of my seat. Today Soldier is one of my favorite movies. I love it and I've seen it dozens of times.

It makes me empathize with Roy Batty, especially when he talked about living in fear, and being a slave. The replicants were treated very harshly and disposed of like junk if they were no use for the military anymore. Kinda like how Phantasy Star 4 makes me appreciate Phantasy Star 2 and 3 even more.

Even though I like anime,I usually prefer older anime series from the 80's that have mature/rustic artstyles, rather than kawaii. My favorite anime series of all-time is actually Super Dimension Fortress Macross, which was released in 1982. A city-sized alien spacecraft crashes on the South Atari island.Over 10 years, humanity learns much from the technology of the spacecraft(and give it the name the 'Macross')and use the Macross technology to build aero fighters.A young pilot named Hikaru is invited to visit the Macross, but aliens show up whom are the creators of the Macross. The aliens(known as the Zentradi)are interested in human culture and start a war against humanity to 'test' humanity and in the process, the crew of the Macross try to escape by using it's faster than light drive, but end up taking the Macross and much of South Ataria to the other side of the solar system. Since the Macross is designed like a fortress, the city environments from South Ataria remain mostly intact and the people can walk around the city and go about their normal daily lives while on the Macross.Hikaru rescues a beautiful singer named Lynn during the Zentradi invasion, but they end up trapped deep inside the Macross and need to find a way to the surface of the city. While trapped deep inside the Macross, they bond together and take a liking to each other. After they make it to the city surface,Lynn continues being a singer, and Hikaru continues being a pilot, and even after the Macross makes it back to Earth,Hikaru and Lynn don't have much time for each other.Eventually,Hikaru meets another woman named Hayase and they like each other and develop their own bond, and a love triangle develops when Hikaru has opportunities to see Lynn again but also has feelings for Hayase. The Macross series spans out over multiple generations, because the war between the humans and Zentradi lasts a long time, but takes a twist later on(I won't spoil it). Super Dimension Fortress Macross has exciting battles with aerospace fighters inside Earth and in space, and the aerospace fighters can transform into a giant mecha(robot). Kungfubunny is also a big fan of Macross as well.

The aerospace fighters can also transform into a giant mecha... of course they can... because Japan. It would be more of a surprise if they couldn't.

Now I'm watching In Time,a movie I've seen numerous times. It uses an interesting concept 'Darwinian capitalism'.where people in the world are genetically engineered to stop ageing at 25,but they get only 1 more year to live, unless they can find extra time to live,by doing work, but the cost of living is purposely inflated to make it difficult for people to earn enough time to stay alive. The wealthy use the poor people as slaves and basically live forever, since they never run out of time. As for the movie itself,I find it entertaining, and it has a nice philosophical feel, and has nice, relaxing music. The acting and dialogue could have been a bit better, but it's still a movie I like a lot.

This movie was alright. I still prefer the original that this movie is basically a riff off of better, Logan’s Run. I've seen Logan's Run,and I found it worth a watch. The fact it uses religion to control people isn't exactly my cup of tea,I like how In Time uses a corrupt form of Capitalism to control people. In fact, the writer of a short story named 'Repent, Harlequin!" Said the Ticktockman', which has a similar story to In Time, sued the producers of In Time for copyright violation. Repent, Harlequin!" Said the Ticktockman was actually released 1 year before the Logan's Run novel. As for older Sci Fi,I like Soylent Green, and the original War of the Worlds.

When it comes to movies,I prefer hardcore Sci Fi over Science fantasy, because when it comes to movies,I prefer cerebral stimulation over full-on action/fantasy.When it comes to video games,I like science Fantasy, such as Final Fantasy, because they have better character-driven stories, since they are over 40 hours long, and have lots of time to develop character stories that we become attached to. This is why Interstellar,Blade Runner,Code 46,Ex Machina, and K-PAX are among my favorite Sci Fi movies. When I watch cerebral Sci Fi movies,I like to think how plausible the technology and scientific concepts in the movie really are,as well as philosophical and scientific questions such as,'what does it mean to be human?' 'where do we come from'? 'what does other life in the universe look like, and what are the cultures of other civilizations like'? Interstellar is a movie that has lots of scientists debating as to whether a lot of the scientific concepts/happenings are possible. In theory,a wormhole requires exotic matter(which we don't know if it exists),and negative mass to keep the wormhole open. Some well-known physicists such as Hawkings and Kaku believe it's possible to create a wormhole, however, other scientists say radiation and sub atomic forces surrounding the entrance would kill anyone who enters them, and the negative mass needed to keep a wormhole stable may not be able to be created. String theory(cosmic strings which are the defects in spacetime)could provide the exotic matter, and in theory could warp space, creating black holes, wormholes, and perhaps even white holes. The quantum universe(the way sub atomic particles behave)is much different to the way large objects behave, and quantum mechanics says objects smaller than an atom can be in multiple places at once, can travel faster than light, and behave in random ways, unlike large objects which behave more orderly like there's clockwork, because of causality. In theory,an asset of quantum mechanics says 2 particles that are linked together but extremely far apart can interact with each other at faster than the speed of light through quantum entanglement, and some scientists say quantum entanglement could be how a wormhole is created,or a wormhole could be created from a rotating black hole creating a singularity. Another much discussed element from Interstellar is the characters are able to visit a planet that orbits a black hole, which is close enough to it so the gravity can distort time to such a great extent, but the characters and the planet are not ripped apart by tidal affects. In fact, some physicists say the planet is within the Roche limit, due the the size of the black hole, and their proximity to the black hole, which would literally disintegrate the planet. The glowing matter around the black hole was likely accretion disks, formed by falling matter where gravitational energy is released making them glow in UV and X rays. The space ship should have been fried when they crossed the accretion disk. Some scientists say time may not exist, and it's just an illusion, because 2 observers travelling at different velocities will observe a different amount of time an event lasted for,and a different amount of space between an event, and they can observe a different order of how an event happened, but both observers can be correct with their different calculations. As for Blade Runner,it has mysteries such as whether Deckard is human or a replicant, and has interesting concepts such as how replicants have trouble feeling emotions since they lack memories. Blade Runner also deals with the issues of replicants being used as slaves(for labor, military and sex). Code 46 deals with an interesting scenario, where many of the people in the world are clones, this is because clones with genetic modifications to give them numerous advantages were created, and incestuous reproduction becomes a problem. The story is about how a man falls in love with a clone who technically is a clone of his mother, and I won't spoil the rest, but I will say I like how the world shows things such as the high level of UN means people need to stay indoors during the day,and much of the world's landscape looks like desert(including China).
