Wait, is that the one where there's all on an island or some shit? Heh, nope. That was Brink, back on the PS3/Xbox 360, a game whose relative failure looks like a total success compared to Lawbreakers. Though I don't blame you for confusing the two.
It's telling that whenever I bring Lawbreakers up to anybody they have no idea what the hell I'm talking about.
It's just another game to add to the forgotten failures pile of the last few years. Like Evolve and it's 'DLC delivery system' design, where the DLC was announced at length before the game itself. Or Battleborn and Randy Pitchford's embarrassing attempts at promoting it.

Sucks that they're essentially cheapening it. Reminds me of all those weapon skins in Call of Duty games.
And I really don't understand why every single multiplayer game these days tries to go the esports route. It's not really something you can force, the community has to build itself. And it's not as though throwing money at it is going to help - Overwatch sold like gangbusters and has a huge community, but it's 'esports' push is floundering hard. Yet everything from For Honor to freaking Lawbreakers is pushing to become an esport.
eSports is that dream that all these companies keep trying to push but despite all the money and effort the industry keeps trying to dump into it is still very niche. It only really matters with certain games and even then there is only a certain crowd that cares.

Honestly I don't understand why it wasn't more popular; as a competitive game it's great. Or at least it WILL be when we get the dedicated servers next season. There's a pretty enormous skill barrier to new players, and the frequent disconnects can be disheartening. Other than that it's pure skill on skill PVP.

I mean, I might check Youtube to see an EVO match for Street Fighter or a game I'm currently playing, but I've never sat and watched a StarCraft or League of Legends match, so I don't understand the scene. But whenever I read these articles about esports sponsorships and teams and players (and all the various scandals and whatnot) I'm sort of baffled by it. It all seems so alien.

I love video games but not watching other people play them. All these Let's Plays and Esports... it's not my thing and I don't understand how it's so popular.

The worst part about eSports besides it just being about watching other people play is the commentating, especially the color commentating. Just like with actual sports its the worst part. All I'm thinking the whole time is SHUT UP. Who cares. I don't care about the guys record and stats over his last 12 matches.

I could understand if they're explaining things to people relatively unfamiliar with the games or characters/tactics, but the way they do it in clips I've seen is to just scream obnoxiously. It's as though they feel the need to do it as loudly as possible to make it seem legitimate.

Star Wars: Battlefront 2’s campaign is gorgeous but being a Stormtrooper feels like playing Wolfenstein as the NazisSeriously? I really want to tell this author to fuck off for that click bait BS headline. This isn't even the first time we've played as The Empire in a Star Wars game. Not even close. If anything the last thing I want to happen is for the games protagonist to switch sides half way thru (even though I do half expect it). I want a character with some real principles and a belief in their cause. I want a game that's going to delve into the fact that there is no right and wrong side in this fight. That there are good and bad guys and righteous and evil actions on both sides.

If anything Star Wars is going out of its way to show the merits of both sides and humanize the Imperials and show some of the atrocities that the rebels commit. If anything this is a pitched battle between ISIS, Nazi Germany, and some fucking duplicitous space wizards.

I hate being evil but I love being an evil WOMAN OF COLOR." gag

On the bright side they sure know how to put on a halloween themed event. But if I have to fight goddamn skeletons that hit as hard as the Conqueror for 2 weeks I'm gonna be PISSED. I guess I can't be TOO mad about this realism-breaking event, but I could do without it to be sure.

Just purchased Resident Evil 7 and Uncharted: The Lost Legacy both on sale for $24. Two more to add to the backlog. Although... with my access to VR now I may move RE7 up toward the front of my queue.
