Hey there. If you're one of the many silent readers who visit every day I'd like to invite you to engage. Although we here at Harambe's Hideaway haven't even reached our first anniversary yet, the 2nd anniversary of Harambe's death is right around the corner (May 28th.) I can't think of a better way to honor him than by having a new member or two.
So, do you have any questions? What brought you here? How did you find us? Are you amused? Angered? Bored? Or are you just plain bewildered by a little corner of the internet, dedicated to a murdered gorilla, that appears to be a mix of video games, incendiary rhetoric, and outright vulgar behavior? (That's me. I own that.)
Maybe you're thinking: "Wow, these guys are super racist." Let's talk about that. We're a mixed group here, so I'll challenge that thought, but we always welcome debate and other points of view. We may not always agree with them, but speak freely! That's kind of the point of Harambe's Hideaway. Here is a place where you can speak your mind.. especially if it isn't politically correct. The internet today is a minefield of social justice warriors and people eager to castigate and outcast anyone of a differing opinion. But we here subscribe to an older notion; one that says you do not have to agree with the majority to be heard. So maybe we rub some people the wrong way. If that's the case I invite you to jump in, make your point, and prepare to defend it! Regardless what the modern internet says about people with actual opinions no one here is actually a racist. In fact we scoff and mock it at just about every opportunity. Harambe welcomes all... well almost.
You are probably thinking "Who's the asshole mentioned in Rule 3?" See we're a group of friends who've pretty much known each other, online, since around 2007. Way back on Gamespot. After that site fell apart we were gathered by another former Spotter who took it upon himself to make a home for us at Game Informer. Sadly that douche turned out to be a manipulative liar and sociopath who created internal strife and drama and tried to weasel money out of members. If you're like that (or if you're him) then please kindly fuck off. We've no use for liars. Harambe speaks truth, and truth is spoken here. We can bicker and argue about anything here but at the end of the day we're all the same tribe. Become one of us and you've Harambe's Protection.
"But you guys are super conservative!" Not true. I stand here a Democratic Socialist in favor of single payer health care and even a national salary cap! I also believe in "Do as you will so long as you harm none," a belief that I'm pretty sure our resident Conservative Extraordinaire agrees with. We learned long ago that even though we are of differing political ideologies that there's actually not that much that really separates us, in fact there appears to be more that brings us together. This elusive truth seems to be at the core of American dysfunction and yet we prove it every day. We do believe and support common sense, but I personally take umbrage at the thought that 'common sense' belongs solely to the conservatives!
So if you're a lurker with questions, statements, or anything to say noncommittally please; speak your piece. Someone will answer you in this thread. You don't need to join or anything. Just talk to us and maybe, if it all works out, you can join our merry band.

I want to tell any people whom are lurking in our forum to feel free to join in. As long as you're respectful, and can respect differences of opinions, you will have no trouble on here. I want to warn people about the asshole mentioned in rule 3, whose screen name begins with the letter ''M'' and ends with ''G'' , created a page named FUSE, and attempted to scam us out of money, by claiming to be ''trapped in Syria'' , as well as asking for money to help him ''build our new website''. After numerous failed attempts in trying to get money from us , he became a condescending manchild, and wouldn't respect the fact we don't want to put gays on a pedestal like he does, and wouldn't accept we have differing opinions about video games to him. After we had enough of him, we left FUSE, but he followed us onto a new page we created and hurled abuse and threats at us (threatening our family members). He found us on here, but we have security measures to prevent him posting anything, but it doesn't stop this low-life dog from messaging us in other places, and slandering us everywhere, by referring to Harambe's Hideaway as a place of racists and homophobes. If you read our political posts, me and Uesugi are socialists whom support universal healthcare and welfare safety nets. Endorbr is a fiscal conservative. Bunny leans more towards the left, and TonberryKing leans more towards the right. I will say I am half Asian and half white, and Bunny is Asian. So we aren't a bunch of white, right-wing males. We may not want to put gays on a pedestal, but it doesn't mean we are homophobic. I have some gay friends. The issue of immigration is a tricky one, because most terrorist attacks are caused from Middle Eastern people , hence it's understandable many people are cautious of allowing people from the Middle East into their country. About me, I'm a Buddhist, and I spend much of my time travelling ( I have been to many countries around the world) and believe me when I say Asians have much more racist points of view than whites when it comes to Arabs, blacks etc. The difference being is Asians are not confrontational. Uesugi is also married to a Japanese women, and has half-Asian children. I personally don't like to talk about political stuff much, I'd rather talk about games without stress and drama. We have threads for just about everything, games, movies, music, politics, science etc. Just remember, it's inevitable issues such as race/culture will be brought up during political discussions, so if you're very sensitive, it might be best you stay out of the political threads, but we have many other threads you can enjoy. If anybody who is from Gamespot finds us,, I want to tell you , Gamespot has always had political threads where controversial opinions about race/culture were brought up, but people who don't like political discussion choose to participate in game forums or blog instead. The main rule we have on here is to be respectful towards other people's opinions, so anyone looking for a place to talk about video games or other stuff, or any Gamespot refugees looking for a new home, you're welcome here, as long as you're respectful
