There is no doubt in my mind at all of just how much I am looking forward to playing the last of us part II, the new gameplay trailer was absolutely amazing and looked to be some tight mechanics that will take the game to new heights. But one scene has taken the world by storm and it's as all get out here is why.
I have no problem with the scene at all or the fact that Ellie is gay, she has already been established as a great character which I'm deeply connected to by now so as far as im concerned her being a lesbian is just another dimension to here character. I knew full well going into the last of us her sexuality would be explored. Namely because Druckmann had already toyed with that idea before with Left Behind.
My biggest problem was that being shown of at E3 there was no reason to show it off other than to get people talking bring the SJW sqaud and get a pat onnthe back and be like look at what we did look at how diverse we are we are trend setters. This is the same crap Druckmann pulled when he went on about Chloe and Nadine being women of color. He made sure to shove it down everyboies throat and make a big deal about it even though the game did not.
Somehow we have gotten to the point in games and just entertainment in genreral cant just have a strong female lead anymore (like Jill Valentine or Lara Croft or even Aloy for that matter) that is just good at being badass, now they constantly have to call out misogyny, embrass lesbian, bisexualality, and transgender in full spectrum and then push to constantly remind us of how opressed they are.
What really gets my goat is the amount of critics talking about the kiss scene and completely 100% straight up ignoring just how amazing the gameplay looked. Never mind the realistic look to the gameplay or how brutal the game looked or how improved the mechanics of stealth amd combat have been improved. Ellie is lesbian and shares a kiss and that matters above all gameplay.
